Te Tiriti o Waitangi, first signed here at the Treaty Grounds on 6 February 1840, is one of our most important founding documents. It has often been misunderstood, and its journey to recognition has been challenging.
Where better to build your understanding of Te Tiriti than right here at te pito whenua, the birthplace of our nation?

Workshop aims:

  • Grow your knowledge of te ao Māori

  • Consider what impact the arrival of Pākehā had on life in Aotearoa New Zealand

  • Deepen your understanding of Te Tiriti

  • Explore steps you can take to be the treaty partner Māori believed they had signed Te Tiriti with
