STEAM Programmes
STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) helps build the creative problem solving skills of ākonga | learners and strengthens their critical thinking skills. Our Learning Team supports local teachers by co-designing term-long STEAM programmes for years 7 & 8, and by modelling and co-facilitating the delivery of these programmes to their ākonga.
Currently there are two programmes available: Design focus and Computational Thinking focus.
Programme aims:
Teachers and learners will
make connections between classroom learning, authentic contexts outside the classroom and STEAM disciplines
observe and experience experience with STEAM learning in authentic contexts
apply and share their their learning in different contexts with their school community
Cost:
Currently this programme is available free of charge for year 7 & 8 learners in primary schools within the Far North District. Thanks to the generosity of Google, transport subsidies might be available, please contact us for more details.
