STEAM Programmes

STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) helps build the creative problem solving skills of ākonga | learners and strengthens their critical thinking skills. Our Learning Team supports local teachers by co-designing term-long STEAM programmes for years 7 & 8, and by modelling and co-facilitating the delivery of these programmes to their ākonga.

Currently there are two programmes available: Design focus and Computational Thinking focus.

Programme aims:

Teachers and learners will

  • make connections between classroom learning, authentic contexts outside the classroom and STEAM disciplines

  • observe and experience experience with STEAM learning in authentic contexts

  • apply and share their their learning in different contexts with their school community

Cost:

Currently this programme is available free of charge for year 7 & 8 learners in primary schools within the Far North District. Thanks to the generosity of Google, transport subsidies might be available, please contact us for more details.
