Originally named Kororāreka, by the 1820’s it was a colourful trading hub. It grew so unruly that it became infamously known as The Hellhole of the Pacific! Today it is known as Romantic Russell and this lovely group of Year 7 and 8 students was perfectly respectable! Our programmes at Waitangi inspire students to add to their own stories with a strong sense of identity and pride.
