It seems fitting that ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 Education Programme, CRIC-KIDS, was recently launched at Waitangi Treaty Grounds, near the site of the first game. Students from two Far North schools learnt cricket skills alongside three of our White Ferns.

Students from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Pukemiro and Paihia School played cricket with team members of the White Ferns, the New Zealand women’s national cricket team, with captain Sophie Devine and team mates Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu among the activators putting students through their paces.

A pōwhiri at Waitangi Treaty Grounds welcomed organisers of the 2022 Women’s World Cup to be held in New Zealand in February-March 2022 and the trophy that will be played for was blessed in Te Whare Rūnanga. The education pack, made up of 45 tasks and available in te reo Māori and English has been designed to align with the school curriculum, with a particular focus on hauora and wellbeing. It brings to life the excitement of the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 (CWC22) for Kiwi kids aged 7-13.
